Disney classics get Blu-ray treatment
The Blu-ray Disc juggernaut continues as Disney aforementioned Thursday that it will release five more Platinum Collection animated classics on Blu-ray.
The quintet includes "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937), the starting time of Disney's acclaimed hand-drawn animated features. Also in the line are "Pinocchio" (1940), "Fantasia" (1940), "Beauty and the Beast" (1991) and "Fantasia 2000" (1999).
Each will be available for a limited time in new multidisc sets featuring hours of bonus materials and rare behind-the-scenes footage.
Disney is launching its Platinum Collection line on Blu-ray with "Sleeping Beauty," which will be released Oct. 7.
Disney is launching its next-generation BD-Live network, which offers such Web-enabled features as new World chat rooms and video electronic messaging, in the U.S. only with "Sleeping Beauty." The network volition go live worldwide in fall 2009 with "Snow White."
Of the five new Blu-ray releases, "Pinocchio" will be showtime out of the gate, coming in the give. "Snow White" is next, followed in 2010 by "Fantasia" and "Fantasia 2000." In conjunction with these releases, Disney will military issue "Destino," an unfinished animated feature film created by Walt Disney and celebrated surrealist painter Salvador Dali. Begun in 1946, the rare film was rediscovered in 2003 and completed by Walt Disney's nephew, Roy E. Disney.
Bringing up the back is "Beauty and the Beast," the only alive film ever nominated for a best picture Oscar. The cinema will be available as a Blu-ray Disc Platinum Collection spillage in fall 2010.

Knightley talks about Miller friendship
Actress Keira Knightley has spoken about her friendly relationship with Sienna Miller, comparing their family relationship to "deuce ships passing in the night".
In an interview with Glamour magazine, Knightley aforesaid that she became friendly with Miller when they filmed 'The Edge of Love' together but hadn't seen her much since then.
The actress said: "I love Sienna, I think she's a wonderful actress, but we've been like two passing ships in the night recently.
"I cerebrate that's what's lovely merely also pitiful about playing. You get incredibly close to people and as soon as it's over, you don't see each other.
"You're away from home, it's a very intense relationship and then it's not anymore."
Knightley also aforesaid: "I don't think I'm very good at calculation out female friendships. I think they're quite slippery to navigate."

Dance legend Cyd Charisse dies, 87
The Broadway star's agent, Scott Stander, said she died yesterday morning of a heart attack at a Los Angeles-area hospital.
Charisse was famous for her dance pairings with Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire and she was best known for her roles in 'Singin' in the Rain' and 'Brigadoon'.
Publicist Gene Schwam told Reuters that Charisse had only recently celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary with her second husband, singer Tony Martin.
Charisse was born Tula Ellice Finklea in Amarillo, Texas, and took her stage surname from her first husband, ballet instructor Nico Charisse.
Her childhood nickname was 'Sid', which became 'Cyd' for her professional name.

Britney & Kevin in Court This Morning
In what feels like the 10,000th hearing in the Britney Spears and Kevin Federline custody battle, the pop singer is making a rare court appearance this morning in her attempt to regain overnight visitations with her two sons.
According to case insiders, Britney had originally asked for an unscheduled, ex-parte hearing to ask that the court grant her the right to have little Sean Preston and Jayden James, who will turn 3- and 2-years-old respectively in September, spend the night at her home. Instead, the court scheduled today's hearing so Brit and her lawyer could "show cause" as to why she deserves these extended visits.
Brit-Brit, wearing a white, cap-sleeved cotton blouse, four-inch platform wedges, and khaki capri pants, arrived slightly before 8:30am PT, just in time for the hearing to begin. She was joined by her dad, Jamie Spears, her A-list lawyer Blair Berk. Also with the Spears entourage is Andrew Wallet, Jamie's court-appointed co-conservator of Britney's estate.
